- עֲקִיצָהf. (עָקַץ) 1) sting. Ab. II, 10 עֲקִיצָתָן עֲקִיצַת עקרב (Ar. עֲקִיסָתָן עֲקִיסַת) their sting (the scholars ban) is a scorpions sting; Num. R. s. 3, beg. 2) cutting fruit by the stalk. Y.Maas. Sh. V, 56b top שכר ע׳ remuneration for cutting, contrad. to לקיטה.
